Hi HN! I scraped 8,000 NDE/OBE accounts, analyzed them with AI, and built three ways to explore them:

    1. *Search by meaning* — "floating above my body" finds similar accounts even with different words 2. *3D Map* — Experiences clustered by semantic similarity (UMAP on embeddings) 3. *Listen* — AI voices + ambient soundscapes. Surprisingly immersive.

The audio was the most fun to build. ElevenLabs narration layered with ethereal ambient pads — you can listen to these accounts like a podcast.

Not making metaphysical claims — just making 20 years of scattered NDE research data actually explorable.

Try: noeticmap.com/listen for audio, /map for 3D visualization.

This is fascinating work. Right now it’s mostly focused on near-death experiences, but I’d love to see it grow into a broader map of spirituality, consciousness studies, and related fields. The visual approach has a lot of potential once more domains are added.

Thank you! Yes I want to add more data from different fields and see how the they relate. Possibly Erowid DMT experiences as well since they have a lot of similarities with OBEs.

Thanks! I used shadcn and tailwind so not having a clunky component library helped with performance.

For those with a morbid curiosity, check out "This is Actually Happening" podcast. It is almost always told by the victim and so where other podcasts feel exploitative, it feels reflective and insightful.

I've thought about this quite a bit, Erowid has good data which I'll request from them. Check back on the app in a few weeks, you might see it there.
