Ah, that. When we did that back in the day, the Old Ones, the ones who made us, called that the "deer in the headlights" expression.

Gen-X has their own version: it used to drive me nuts when I’d say ‘thank you’ to someone and their response was ‘uh-huh’. In what world is that a response? No ‘you’re welcome’?

Millennial checking in: At this point I'd probably fall over in shock if I managed to get an "uh huh" from someone.

Was actually talking about this with my kid yesterday and I decided it would be fun to just dig in and return the stare and see how long it takes for them to break (if they even do!)

I enjoy a good-natured ribbing of the "youths these days" as much as any generation, but I don't think I've ever actually encountered someone doing this.

The socials dunking on GenZ the last few weeks. This is like the 5 site I have seen this on in 3 weeks. Internet is dead.

GenZ have hit their "gold star for nothing", "avocado toast addicted wackadoos", "rock music and comic books rotted their brain" stage in life where the olds drag down the youth to feel better about being old.
