AI can clone your indie game, but not its soul

yet. ai videos already have plenty of soul, which is personally shocking

Strongly disagree, they're utterly repulsive. Unfortunately they're getting harder to distinguish from the real thing.

Are they getting harder to distinguish because AI videos are finding their soul, or because non-AI videos are losing their soul?

"Content" has never been interesting even before genAI.

Finally somebody who gets it. Today the definition of Content is view-optimized, click-bait, gapping mouth YT trash. I can't stand it anymore. I want real video of real people saying real, interesting things.

Video costs. I suggest you reorient yourself towards the few people who post text written by humans only when they have something to say ;)

Yes, but that is a problem independent of the discussion in this thread.

What is the latest SOTA examples for videos because all that I see scream AI which doesn’t mean they don’t look good but I would not say they have soul. Then again I don’t watch many videos so I might have missed new developments there. If they really work like you say, TikTok and insta and YouTube shorts are now just fake videos only?

        Check reddit, r/stablediffusion and r/aivideo

Does anyone have any examples of AI produced videos that are meaningful/cool/interesting outside of them being produced by AI?

This one was quite an interesting story. Somehow even with their blank faces the AI was able to create a sense of trepidation or anxiety purely through body movements and I found that very impressive.

It has the combined soul of humanity that supplied its training data.

Probably the code of these games leaked in some dark corner of the web in the past and that’s why AI can generate it so nicely. AI is also extremely good at building Quake 3, including Carmack’s notes.

But as soon as you are just a tiny bit off the beaten path, Fable/Sol will go postal regularly. So if your indie game has interesting gameplay mechanics, nobody will be able to 1-shot that for a long time. (Because their prompt would have to include everything that’s unique to your game.)

Well, yes. You need to unambiguously describe what you need to be built. That's not a problem this going to take 'a long time's to solve.

        > You need to unambiguously describe what you need to be built

In the limit this can be as complex or more complex than just writing your program to begin with. If you actually care about your implementation details, your specification will balloon to encode all of them.

No, AI could have been trained on those codes but even after that AI can generate the code on its own as well.

I didn't know souls could pay the bills.

Steam reviews are savage and refund windows generous. Ai Slop clones would quickly get trashed.

I agree. Let’s have some faith in the players, they are even ruthless about not slop games
